At Roseworthy, an hour north of Adelaide, Sparc Hydrogen is testing a new way to produce green hydrogen. Our SHARP pilot plant uses concentrated sunlight to split water directly in a photocatalytic reactor, a process we call photo active water splitting (PAWS). There's no electrolyser and no separate solar panels, just sunlight, water and a catalyst doing the work.
Sparc Hydrogen invites you to a tour of SHARP and see the technology up close. Whether you're an investor, industry partner, researcher, policymaker or simply curious about where clean energy is heading, a guided visit is the best way to understand what our technology could mean for low-cost hydrogen.
Departing at 9:30am from Adelaide University North Terrace campus, tour runs for about an hour and visitors will return by 12:30pm. Details will be shared closer to the date.
Places are limited, so registration is required.
Take a behind-the-scenes look at our research facilities and explore some of the unique experimental capabilities being developed at Adelaide University.
What you’ll see:
Bay 1: See how we use advanced optical techniques to directly measure dense particle flows and fluidised beds — capabilities that are not readily available in other laboratories.
Bay 2: See our high-power laser system, which is used to rapidly heat ores and study their behaviour under controlled conditions. This is a novel experimental capability not available in other laboratories.
Bay 3: Explore our custom-designed long tubular furnace, currently being used to investigate methane pyrolysis for hydrogen production under precisely controlled heating conditions.
